Who: Penny and OPEN
What: Hey Juuuuude
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: High School Music Room
Rating: Low
The lights in the music room were dim as was customary for a Sunday afternoon when no one at roamed the halls of Moses Pearson High School. It smelled lightly of Lysol, no doubt from when the cleaning lady came in the night to mop the floor. And the only sound heard was that of a tinkling piano playing a familiar tune. Penny didn't usually skirt her duties like this. She absolutely wanted to take pictures of a dog event they were having by the park near the school. Oh yeah, the allergic reaction would be so worth the blurry pictures she took. Why her "boss" would think she was an expert photographer was beyond her. Then, she probably could use the experience anyway.
However, after an hour of standing about ten feet away from anything with more than one layer of fur, Penny decided her talents were best put to use elsewhere. It was a stupid story anyway, and as much as she understood she needed to "start at the bottom" that didn't mean she had to risk her life or stand watch at an event that she could have easily written an impromptu article about. She'd already gotten quotes from all the higher ups at the event. This was a cake walk, and Penny longed for a challenge today.
The music room of Moses Pearson always put her at ease. Sure she had a piano, a guitar, even a drum set that usually went unused in a room specifically set apart for her music endeavors in her house. This music room, however, it was a room full of creative energy. And as Penny's fingers expertly wafted over each black and white key, it was as if her soul, her very essence was being poured over the piano, spilling in globs down to the floor and expanding all through the walls of the room. She was a star if only in her mind, but wasn't that all that really mattered anyway? Peace of mind came at a high cost these days, and Penny was receiving so much of it at the moment.
She hardly noticed that there had been someone standing at the doorway the entire time... watching her.
