Fall was coming. If the breeze blowing the trees around and making that rustling noise that Luc had always been fond of wasn't enough of an indicator, the leaves would have done it. Though the changed leaves were few and far between for the time being, it wouldn't be long now until the trees were covered in pigmented foliage. There was a reason people flocked to New England for the turning of the seasons, and though it was easy to take for granted when you lived in the area, as far as Luc was concerned, Maine was fantastic as seasons turned.
Since Luc had gotten home a week ago, it seemed like he couldn't spend enough time outside. Being cooped up in a medical facility throughout the whole summer was tough for him, especially since he was the type who had always enjoyed sitting outside with a book and a glass of ice water or something simple like that.
So, that was what he'd planned to do that day. He stopped when he came to his favorite spot (a park bench near a couple of willow trees) set the green apple slushie he'd bought on the table in front of him him and took his book from underneath his arm. After taking a nice deep breath, enjoying the fresh air, he opened his book and started reading.
