Emily was trembling from the rush of emotions that had hit her at the moment. What had she done...what had they done. She heard the wonder in Calvin's voice when he said that he kissed her. Had she not still be frozen in shock she would have quipped back with a 'Well obviously.' But her thoughts were still jumbled in her head. What did this mean, did Calvin have those feelings for her...if so for how long? Also...how did she feel about him? He was her best friend. Him and her in a romantic situation had never really crossed her mind. Sure, ever since he mentioned that he would have slept with her had she asked she had a few images of them in an intimate situation, but romantic, dating, kissing...she had no idea.
When he asked if he should apologize she moved to sit up but scooted further down the bed to put a little distance between them. She brushed her hair behind her ear, "No...no, you don't have to apologize." She bit her lip and tugged on a section of her hair as she tried to sort out her thoughts. She wanted to ask him why he did it but then she'd have to answer why she returned it. Honestly she didn't know. The minute he kissed her the idea that it was Calvin vanished from her mind...it felt so perfect and...right. Almost like a dream. But it was Calvin! Her best friend...how could it be him. Not that he was a bad guy but...he was her best friend, one of her only friends she felt she had at this point. Maybe that was it. They had leaned on each other a lot over these past months and maybe they thankfulness or devotion to the other somehow got confused with love or romantic attraction.
"Calvin I...do you...what did...I thought..." Emily kept trying to form the words to ask what he was feeling at the moment. However as she was trying to work it out another horrifying thing came to mind. "KATIE!! Oh my God, what about Katie? You....and Katie...and ex boyfriends...and friends...and no," she said making some wild hand gestures between the two of them. She buried her head in her hands totally horrified with herself. She had just broken on of the cardinal rules of girl code. You don't date your friend's exes. Sure she and Calvin weren't dating but she was sure that kissing definitely fell under that clause. Also they had been so in love and dating for a long time. They were voted cutest couple for goodness sake. Also it hadn't even been a year. "She can never be told about this. Anyway I think it was just a fluke." Her breathing sped up and she knew she was having a panic attack. Her next words came out extremely quickly, "I mean we've both felt really lost and alone recently and have gone through some stuff and we've been there for each other and I think along the way somehow we confused thankfulness into love, when it's not and we should just forget about it and never mention it again because it probably won't and actually it should never happen again. Right?"
