Glancing up when he heard the turning of the lock and the door consequently opening, Charles composed a small polite smile.
"Evening," he replied as he stepped inside, slowing his steps with courtesy until Samuel had relocked the door. He knew the way to the office already, but it was a matter of respect to wait for Samuel to lead in his own home. It was a shame not everyone had the same forethought when it came to stepping onto other people's property, but if Charles had plans for a certain boy who'd recently thought he could do so in his house without his knowledge, he had thus far kept them to himself.
"I appreciate you seeing me at short notice," he added, with an effortlessness that often belied whatever really went on behind his eyes. There was more he wanted to say, of course, but he refrained until they had relocated to somewhere with more privacy. There was still Danielle and the children to consider, after all.
