Scott watched her with a bemused grin on his face as the baby seemed to light up at Ari's kiss. It would have been a nice moment, had they been happily married. It was still a nice moment, regardless, but it didn't quite hold the same meaning that it should have. He wasn't looking lovingly at his wife. He didn't feel any type of strong fatherly connection to his son (yet). At the moment, the only thing on his mind was what he had to tell Ari. It was weighing on him.
"Twisty's is fine. The promotions seem to be working for the time being. We're making more than we're spending, which is a good thing. I just need to figure out a way to get more people in." He shrugged. "At least it could have been worse. I'll put the baby to sleep tonight if you want." A pause, then, "have you seen the girl with leukemia that the town's up in arms about?" He wasn't sure what branch she nursed in. He'd never thought to ask.
