Rosie stopped in her tracks as Sean kept talking. She could feel tears, her cheeks burning from frustration. She wanted to scream at him and shout, hit him and strike him. But what good would that do? He would still go after her and try to get her to date him or ... do what ever he was asking of her. He'd still want her. And she'd still want him, but wouldn't admit to it. If Rosie was to admit that, she might as well wave a white flag and she wasn't about to do that in the battle of love.
After considering what he was asking of her for a moment, Rosie was about to start walking again. It was better to just walk away and not say anything, than to say something she would regret for a very long time. But then he was turning her around forcefully. She was half tempted to punch him but she didn't. "Look. I don't want to date you. Or be with you. I want to be your friend. No strings, what so ever. So just... " Rosie paused for a minute to try to calm her temper down. "Just stop."
From the tone of her voice and the noise of everything else happening in the world that was within hearing distance, Rosie saw colors still. Ribbons of color were rippling past her head, beads and puffs of wispy cloud-like things danced around her vision. But when Rosie put an emphasis on the word stop, it was like the waves of color stopped what they were doing and all collided into Sean. It was like they were slapping him for Rosie, like she had wanted to do but not just slapping him in the face. Rosie watched as the colors collided and slapped Sean across the body, sending him across the sand.
