Who: Quinn Murtaugh
What: Trip to the Hardware store
When: Sunday 7/17 am
Rating: G
Status: Solo - Complete
Quinn was having a weird day. Nothing was going according to plan. Her book was getting her down. Her club wasn't supposed to be open for months, but she really wanted it open soon. She decided it was time to take fate into her own hands. She looked around her apartment and saw things. Everywhere there were things. 'This place needs more storage. I need things a little more orderly than this.'
Quinn grabbed her keys and drove off into town. She went to the hardware store. She got the usual "Can I help you ma'am? to which she scoffed. She knew what she was after. She went to the shelving section and quickly took stock of the limited selection. Her walls were mostly a mocha brown color, black it would have to be to match. Her plan was to put cubes in all the "usual" spots for things. A corner full in the living room. A wall of them in her room and the same for Carter. In her room and Carter's they would stack like a pyramid.
She purchased nearly all the black shelving in stock. Also some tape, for the ends she would inevitably have to cut, that would match the color of the shelves. She picked up some tools she didn't have, plus a few she wanted to replace. After nearly $3000 dollars in supplies she loaded up her Subaru Legacy and headed home. She started in the living room measuring and cutting. Then she started anchoring the brackets into the walls and making sure that at least two of the brackets set in studs. After about two hours, she was satisfied with her work in the living room and decided that Carter was out doing his thing she would start next in her room.
She went into Carter's room and much like she expected, much like other intelligent and creative people he had clothes and clutter scattered about. She put some of his laundry in his hamper and took the soda cans out to recycle and started to hang the shelves in his room. It took her a little more than an hour and a half but she was happy with the result. Finally she finished in her own room by about 8 pm.
She looked at the shelves and had a craving for candles. 'Well everything is closed now. I should order them online.' She pulled her "not work" laptop out of its hiding spot and started searching for scented candles and candles that were non-standard shapes. Almost $400 dollars later she was satisfied and set to drinking a bottle of wine.
'It's been a good day
