Penny was suddenly reminded of that book called Number the Stars that she had read in the 6th grade about that one girl in Holland. It was one of her favorite books, she recalled, because it reminded her so much of her friendship with Annie. Even though Annie wasn't Jewish, Penny still considered her to be like a sister. Annie wasn't the most athletic, but she was still in better shape than Penny, just like one of the girls in the story. The parallels were numerous! "Pizza." She grinned. She wasn't exactly hungry, but her stomach did feel empty. "Wouldn't mind some of that right now. Maybe not a huge New York pizza, but..."
"I guess," she replied, "I still don't think I'd be very good at it. I'm sure people will ask me questions I won't know how to answer, like how long will it take me to get up the wall or how many calories will I burn if I do this." She made an annoyed sort of face. "How the heck am I supposed to know?" Maybe this was a blessing in disguise, a really big disguise, but maybe she just wasn't cut out to work at Evan's shop. "And clothes? Well, I don't know the latest fashions or how to color coordinate or anything. I just wear what I like and what looks nice.... and what Annie deems worthy."
She cleared her throat and gave Annie a little two-fingered salute. Annie was her fashion consultant, because Penny was a disaster when it came to fashion. She tended to like older things, vintage if you will, and usually her fashions were outdated but not in a cool way. "Definitely a sort of carnival where people could just escape for a little while. I wonder where they would build it on the island. Maybe back behind those condos on the beach or something. Trying to figure out the space involved." Though she knew next to nothing about construction. "That's a good idea. I hope I don't get too many people this time." It was sort of annoying when you weren't feeling at your best and people kept walking in wearing their cutest clothes and trying to start awkward conversations with you. But... Penny was used to it.
