Penny nodded. "I know the feeling." She hadn't done much traffic court, but she had gone on assignment with some rookie reporters just to see what it was like. She had that luxury over others, though at the same time, she understood the importance of deadlines and details. She and her partner reporter (whoever she was shadowing that day) would agree to write up the same story and then see who wrote the better one before submitting it to the editor. They never wrote their names on it, but somehow, the editor always picked Penny's piece. She would usually let the reporter take the credit.
"It's not your faul--" Penny frowned. She was suddenly hearing his voice in her head. At first, she was stunned, as if this was the first time she had felt his power working on her. But it was probably because she hadn't been paying attention. His power, like Annie's, she was used to. She didn't have to check for it anymore, and she was so tired that she didn't want to check for it. She did blink twice though... smiled. Natalie. He... You have her power. I'm sorry. I've been a little off and...
She began to remember what had happened to her before she fainted, the way her power suddenly went crazy and started sensing the powers of everyone in the room. It had been so overwhelming then, and it wasn't any better now thinking back on it. She was getting more and more lost in her thoughts, until she realized she was probably projecting all this onto him and gasped a little, blinking herself back into the present. Sorry.
"I didn't know. Not really." She wasn't lying. She didn't think it would all culminate at the wedding, though she could see how the stress of past events plus a full day of running around and performing on top of that could bring her system crashing down. "I felt like I was getting farther and farther away. I didn't think I would pass out at the wedding."
