Penny pulled the voice modifier off the phone and ended the call. She was an array of emotions at the moment, though the predominant one was fear and the insatiable urge to cry. She wanted to explain everything to him, how she was afraid to share any information with him at first, how she couldn't even let him get near her because of her power. That part he knew. What he didn't know was why. And that part, even she was a little shaky about.
But it was as if all that talking a moment ago had worn her out, and her voice wouldn't work any more. There was so much she had to tell him. So much that had happened between them (him, Penny and Songbird) that needed understanding. But the only thing she could say was, "I am Songbird." She sniffled a little, trying hard but failing to keep her emotions at bay. "You're the only one who knows.... about everything. Only you know everything about me." And it was the scariest thing in the world to open up to him like that, but at the same time, she felt as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
