Who: David and Cait
What: breakin' up
When: a few days ago
Where: Pearson's Pub (Cait has no class)
Rated: R for language, maybe?

Okay. So she really didn't want to have to do this. Cait liked David. She really did. But whatever they were was either too much, or not enough, for her. She couldn't decide exactly which one it was, but she knew there was something not right about how she felt. She figured David would understand. He wasn't really a relationship person either. Case in point, he hadn't asked her to be his girlfriend yet. Which was the main reason she didn't mind doing this.

She didn't, however, want to do it at the Pub. But she really couldn't see any other option. David worked the nights that she had off. And vice versa.

She showed her I.D at the door, though it wasn't really necessary (she'd been going there since she was19). Giving a little smile to the bouncer, she proceeded inside, sidled up to the bar and took a seat. David was busy with some women at the other side. He'd come over eventually.

I disagree. Cait is totally a classy lady

All in all, it wasn't a bad day. For the middle of the week the tips were decent, but it was a little slow. It was alright though, he could spend a lot more time with each customer, which usually meant that they'd get drunker, and that always lead to a bigger tip.

Nevertheless, he spotted Cait not long after she came in, and finished up with his current customer to meet her. "So what brings you in tonight?" He asked brightly.

Oh man. He looked really happy to see her. Fuck. She was going to hate herself tomorrow. Or he was. Either way...

She placed her purse on the bar and leaned on one of her hands. "Figured we could talk. How's it been here?" She didn't want to jump right into it. It seemed premature, or mean. Plus, she was in a bar. She might as well enjoy a drink first, even if it wouldn't really have much of an effect on her.

It was really probably a good thing that he didn't know what she was there for. Yet. It wouldn't be going down well, either way.

"Yeah, sure." David shrugged, "It's been pretty slow, but not too bad." He jerked his thumb in the direction of his tip bowl, "How was your day?" He got out a coaster and set it in front of her, "What's your poison tonight?"

"The usual, I guess," she said, looking down the bar at what the other patrons were drinking. It looked mostly like beer, which she wasn't all that interested in. Yep. A margarita was definitely her best choice.

Margarita it was then. David set about fixing her drink. "You didn't answer my question, though." Because, he was genuinely interested, "How'd your day go?" And also, she could clearly see how his was going.

Her day. It remained to be seen how her day was going. So far...not so good. "It went okay. Work was boring. I really hate Dr. Evans. He's such an asshole." She shrugged and shifted her weight, feeling extremely uncomfortable. "It's picking up, though." She forced another smile. Why did she have to break up with him again? Oh, right. There wasn't enough tension between them. Cait liked tension.

David set her drink in front of her. She seemed nervous. What was up with that. "Yeah. He's kind of a dick." He'd known him when he'd gone out with Natalie, and now Dr. Evans was turning his psychobabble against his best friend. Suffice it to say the man had issues.

He tilted his head to the side questioningly, "Are you okay?"

"Mmmhmm," she muttered, biting her lip. She picked up her drink and took a sip for something to do more than anything. It was delicious, as always. He might not have been a good boyfriend (though, apparently that was all subjective) but he was one hell of a bartender. "Fit as a fiddle. You?"

"Can't complain." He shrugged. David tried to shake the feeling that something was up. He was no psychologist, or even a psychology major for that matter. He was just a bartender. And while he was quite good at reading people, perhaps he was simply paranoid. She was obviously just stressed from work.
