Who: Jamie, Sam and Albert
Where: The Jones Household
What: Boys will be boys (presumably)
When: After school
Rating: Teen? Sam has a tendency to swear
Jamie perched on the arm of the couch, one leg folded underneath himself, balanced precariously on the edge. Sam was sitting on the couch properly for once, and the remote was in the space between them. Some random program was on the TV but Jamie wasn’t paying any attention to it.
He leaned forward, taking a slice of pizza off the table and tipping his head back to take a bite of it so that the cheese didn’t go everywhere. The empty house wasn’t unusual. It was one of the reasons the teenagers were downstairs instead of up for once. Macy was off somewhere, doing something fun. His parents were at work as usual.
“Okay, so,” he said, through a mouthful of cheesy pepperoni pizza, “whaddya wanna do? Bearing in mind I don’t know when my dad’ll get home.” He rubbed greasy fingers over the thigh of his jeans. “He’s on finals timetable at the moment. Means it’s kinda up in the air.”
He wrinkled his nose. He knew he was lucky that his parents were around - kind of - comparatively to Sam’s. He’d been to Sam’s house: the atmosphere there sucked. But still, his parents’ relationship was strained and that made family get-togethers uncomfortable. It was no small wonder he kind of avoided them.
