Who: Julius Hudson and Grace Bailey
What: Meeting for purely acting reasons of course
Where: Park near the Bailey and Hudson homes
When: Saturday, May 21st
Rating: C for Carter-can-have-Julius'-dessert-for-a-week, or probably PG

Julius didn't mind telling his older brother to get the dogs out if they started whining. Usually they were pretty good about telling you when they needed to go for a walk and he didn't want to have to try and deal with the pair while going to see what Grace wanted. Especially when it involved Carter's movie and specifically avoiding Carter. Well, probably her family as well since he had offered to go over there and she had suggested the park. He was trying not to get any hopes up about what she wanted. It was probably just to slap him for anything he may or may not have been looking over earlier that week. It had all been clothed at the time, but he was still wondering if all girls underwear was that uncomfortable. One less thing his parents had to worry about though. He was not cut out for being a girl. Maybe for a play or movie, but he was keeping his own underpants on from now on.

He grabbed his bike just to try and get there a little faster. Enough that he avoided hearing about the fact that he hadn't brought a helmet. It seemed a little less awkward if he at least beat Grace there so he didn't feel like he was making her wait. It was probably a good thing she was even talking to him after all of this. Then maybe she was there to ask him to back her up on backing out of Carter's movie. He could probably come up with a hundred different reasons if he let himself. He got his bike locked up, looking around to see if Grace had managed to get there first anyhow. Hopefully she hadn't been there for too long if that was the case.

It was just another moment before Grace too arrived at the bike rack, with Julius still next to it. As she rolled up, she noticed that they both had similar ideas, biking with no helmets. Except she had a more practical reason, it being that she just brushed her hair and didn't want the helmet to mess it up. But with the wind it didn't make too much of a difference. It was a little more of a natural mess then. "Hi," she greeted him as she stepped off of her bike, "did you wait long?"

"I had to change a little so I hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long." She really didn't have to change but if she was going to ask him what she wanted to ask him, she at least wanted to look the part; it was still a casual look with a little extra make-up. The light of the park was very relaxing and helped to calm her nerves. It almost seemed perfect, aside from the situation that put them there in the first place.

Julius just smiled at her approach and shook his head. "Nah. Besides it never hurt anyone to learn a little patience." Then if there was a school for patience, Julius probably would have been failing it most of the time. "Probably good though to make sure it was just a little change and not a change back into Carter. As long as you are you and I am me, everything is good." He was fairly sure that friends were supposed to greet each other with a handshake or hug or something, but instead just settled for sticking his hands in his pockets. Better to do nothing than the wrong thing, right?

"You look nice. I mean with the hair and everything." He resisted the urge to hit himself in the forehead and took a deep slow breath to try and calm down before he said anything else completely stupid. "Having a good weekend so far?"

"Yeah, I hope that won't be happening again any time soon," she said feigning a smile. That day was almost an absolute nightmare for her. It was a surprise that her body didn't gain any gray hairs from all the stress she was feeling. She would be more than happy if everyone never mentioned it again. "Thanks for.. putting up with me that day, and being a good sport. With a few tips from me, I'm sure you would've been fine with my family but.. you know.. it's a personal thing." She hoped that the conversation would move quickly from that subject because she didn't know what else to say and it was killing her mood.

A genuine smile crossed her lips this time as he commented on her appearance. She started to blush while she locked up her bike so she hoped he didn't see much of it. "Thank you, and yeah, it's been alright so far. Yours?"

It was probably all a good thing that Julius had been relatively calm during that time. They could always check over Carter one day for grey hair. Maybe one day in the future when this was something they could laugh about a little easier. "I don't think Mom and Dad minded too much. And Nevaeh liked having another girl in the house." Even if it was her brother so the other girl in the house was already comfortable with the toddler. "She'd probably be glad to see you again whenever you wanted to visit. Mom's the only female around most of the time."

Julius waited for her to get her bike locked though before starting to walk toward a couple of benches. "It's been alright, but then I'm putting off my weekend homework until tomorrow between taking care of the animals at the vet office. You wanted to see me about something though?"

Spending time at Julius' house and getting to visit with his family were a few of the nicer parts of that experience, even though she hadn't been in her own body. She smiled sweetly as she reminisced, "I may have to do that sometime because she is without a doubt one of the cutest babies in the world and I'll actually get to hold her myself this time.. you know what I mean." She finished up with her bike lock and started the walk with Julius towards the benches, as she had hoped. Whenever her parents had to tell them all something, sitting them down always seemed to keep them a little more relaxed than standing.

"That's great that you help out your Mom at the office, especially with animals; it's really sweet." She smiled and then sat down once they reached the benches. "Yeah.. I um.. I've been thinking about Carter's movie. What he said on his birthday was a little surprising.. because I have to kiss someone and of course it has to look real or I fail. Acting is something I really care about so I really want to not fail at it. And I've never kissed a boy before..." Grace took a moment to let Julius catch up and let it sink in because she was talking nervously and rather fast. "Carter is my director and like a brother to me so it would just be weird to ask him. But other than him.." she scooted closer to him on the bench, "you're pretty much the only boy other than my brothers that I feel like I can trust."

Grace just stared at him, wondering what he could've been thinking. She gave him another minute because she knew it was a lot to take in. "If you don't want to, I understand. All I'm asking is for a little help, your help."

He could probably go on for a while about the usual weekend adventures that happened with his little sister around. Then lately he had been teaching her the fine art of pranking their oldest brother with just little annoying things. It would probably all come back to bite him when she was doing it to him, but hopefully even then he would have something up his sleeve. "She's great. Especially when she doesn't cry so much." Though his parents probably figured it was also natural birth control to have a little one around when he was old enough to remember when all she did was cry and eat and poop. Basically the last thing he needed at his age.

"Well she does pay me. Kind of part of my allowance now so at least I don't have to worry about taxes." He saved some of it though, unsure what he was even really saving for other than "the future". Even new snorkeling gear was being pushed off for fear that he'd suddenly have his feet grow by two sizes. He took a seat next to her though and just listened. Julius had to keep from groaning a little. The last thing that any boy wanted to be related in a group that was her brothers and Carter who was "like a brother". It was kind of giving him a picture of where he stood in the grand scheme of the universe. Or at least Julius' general misconceptions about where he stood in the Grace-centric universe. At least he wasn't moving away.

"So you want to practice kissing? Though I'm not sure I really have the background to really help it look good, but we can try?" And possibly again if she felt like it. She might be seeing him as a bit of a brother, but it was hard to just deny her help. Especially when it was something he had wanted to do.

"That's ok," she squeezed out. She had almost forgotten the conversation they were having as she stared at his lips, trying to keep her confidence among other things. She broke her gaze and let her eyes return to meet his. "We can learn together then? Maybe it could look more natural that way." Grace bit her bottom lip, clearly thinking hard about what she wanted to say next. It would've done her good just to get it out finally, but she didn't want to lose such a good friend over her stupid feelings. If it was anything like she saw in the movies, she would have to risk it. She couldn't afford to not, especially if Carter's movie hang in the balance.

"But I'm glad you came because there's something else I wanted to tell you." She scooted the closest she could get to him, despite her stomach wrenching itself. "I.. I uh.. I really like you, Julius...."

"Well that also might depend a little on that Carter decides to do with the movie for sure." He knew he was gong to have to push a little to try and get the spot in the movie. Her next statement though was a little confusing at first. "Like" in terms of "I think you're really fun to be around and about sharing best friend status with Carter"? Or closer to a "I want you to be the Jack to my Rose and I promise that I'll never let go"? Though is head probably could have picked a better movie reference than one with the guy died before the end. It was hard to think of good ones when you were just staring at your crush trying to figure out the proper reply for that.

"I really like you too, Grace." That seemed safe right? She could then take it as whatever she had meant by it and he wasn't saying more than he should. "So..." Julius found there wasn't really room to move over any more and put his arm behind her on the bench and just leaned over a little bit to hopefully kiss her without completely screwing this up.
