When Julius introduced her to the bunny, she laughed at herself again under her breath for her earlier thinking. If Julius had noticed, she hoped she hadn't taken it the wrong way or offended him. Pancakes was an interesting name for an animal though, especially a bunny. She concluded it was because of its sweetness that she mentioned a moment ago. "Good, at least we won't starve or make ourselves miserable on chocolate ice cream." Again, Grace started ringing the handle of the plastic bag she had been holding as they stood face to face in awkward silence.
A sigh and wave of relief came over her as Carter entered. Her savior. "Hey birthday boy," smiling as she returned his welcoming hug. She let the bag free as he took it from her. "Popcorn sounds great! We'll just save the ice cream for later then." As Carter handed Julius the DVD, she noticed that Carter seemed somewhat odd; he was almost chipper or something. It was his birthday so he had plenty of reason to be but she knew him well enough to know when he had something up his sleeve. As she followed him into the kitchen to help him make popcorn, Grace threw him an inquisitive stare, "What are you up to, Carter Manning?"
