Bast just raised an eyebrow and sighed. "I'm going to be apologizing about that from now until Judgment Day, aren't I? You were the one being confusing though." Even though he had been the one who walked out, and it wasn't to avoid answering her comment that night. It only took knowing him a few moments to realize that he might be bright, but simple things had a tendency of going right over his head without any notice of their passing. "I'm sure if she goes all world famous on you that she'll still remember who her number 1 fan is and remember good old Frye Island." Or hopefully running as far away as they could all manage in the future. Everything around here was best put off until the future when they weren't teenagers in Penny's case or even just able to figure a way out in Bast's.
He tried to find popcorn that was light on the butter without being completely tasteless, and could only hope that he had done rather well since she was at least eating it. Apparently that wasn't a good enough answer though to just let the movie play and she was determined enough this time not to just tell him to "never mind".
