When Sam started to respond Emily looked up to meet his eyes then let her eyes lower to the table they sat at as her face turned a shade of crimson, "Well...um...I actually disproved something to myself. I was expecting one thing and I go the other." She ran a hand through her hair as a thought came to her.
Did he not feel anything, sure she had told herself earlier that maybe he just reacted like any teenage male and just kissed her back because she was a teenage girl. She supposed she was pretty enough...to have him respond just because. Why did she even say anything it just made everything more awkward than it had been before. Why does she feel the need to explain everything, why couldn't they just stay like they were. She knew it wouldn't make her happy if things stayed the way they were. Their friendship was strained it was awkward, it would never go back to the ease that it was before Valentine's Day. Talking and being completely truthful about what they were feeling was the only way to move forward from this.
