The thing about her letting go and wrapping her arms around his neck was that even though he had the strength to hold her up, he didn't quite have the balance. His hand at her shoulder moved to anchor them on the floor. After that, it was easy to hold her with just one hand as they working their way through the land of kissing. He hoped he was still doing all right. He hoped he was doing better than Carter that one time, which was a crazy thing to think about at the moment. Even though his cell phone was buzzing away in his pocket, he completely ignored it for thoughts of Laney.
And without warning, he felt her hands in his hair. He'd never really had a girl's hands in his hair like this. It felt so natural, so soothing. He was feeling better and better about his kissing, and his hand on the floor didn't stay there for long. Before he even knew it, he was slowly rubbing her side with it.
