Penny raised an eyebrow. No, it couldn't be. She squinted a little, though that didn't help her to see things any clearer. She just had to trust her gut instinct on this. The deep end. Kal-El. Those were all things she had talked about with Bast. And that text telling her to come to this room. And then here was this boy whom Penny was beginning to notice similarities in his speech patterns and his eyes. How could she not recognize those eyes? They haunted her every dream since the day she had met him. But his power...
She slowly turned to glance at Johnny. For a while now, she had suspected something was off, though she believed it was something to do with her. In retrospect, she realized that every time she had a power malfunction, Johnny was somewhere in the area. Could it be that his power was something akin to the opposite of hers? Instead of sensing them, he made them disappear?
"John," she said softly, placing her hand on his arm. He was munching apple in her ear like it was going out of style, and it was a little annoying. "Can you go tell my first period teacher that I'm not feeling well and that I'm going home?" It wasn't really that big of a stretch all things considered, but she knew Johnny wasn't going to lie about anything, so she added. "I'm just getting this really crazy headache all of a sudden." She lightly pressed her fingertips to her forehead for effect.
