Emily twirled some of her hair around her finger and bit her lip as she made her way toward the diner. She had been hungry earlier, but now...her stomach was filled with butterflies of apprehension. Was this a horrible idea? Was it too soon? No...Natalie had told her that meeting up with him to talk about what happened was important. Also...she guessed it was a good idea to discuss where they now stood before they avoided each other tearing their friendship apart so much it couldn't be mended. Or...one of them moved on and the chance that they could ever have been more will always be a 'what if?'. She shook her head, no, even with Natalie's reassurance she still thought that dating and her wasn't a good idea...not yet...maybe when she had more control...or maybe she had been right the first time...live a life alone...that way no one could ever hurt her, ever break her heart again.
She stopped in front of the diner and took a deep breath and entered. Emily hadn't realized how cold she was until the warmth from the building flooded over her. Silly things like if she was warm or cold weren't exactly at the forefront of her mind. She just started to glance around to find an empty booth to wait for Sam in when she spotted him. He was already there...she froze, she wanted to run, anything. She had wanted a few moments to collect herself and her thoughts before he arrived, but now...well...she had to pull it together fast. Emily took another deep breath and took off her hood as she walked towards him.
Sliding in on the other side of the booth she gave a small uncomfortable smile and murmured a quiet little, "Hi," before picking up her own menu and read over the food and beverage choices...nothing looking appetizing at the moment.
