Danielle had pretty much gone straight back to find the correct room. It would have been faster to just ask which door was the right one, but the poor boy was in shock and she was already expecting the worst. There wasn't likely going to be a lot of use for CPR in this case as she approached the bed. She was sure she looked about as pale as the woman on the bed as she gently took her hand. Her temperature was too low to have only died moments before Carter found her. Just slipping her fingers gently around her wrist just confirmed that there was no pulse and Grandma Manning didn't just have very cold hands. Danielle just closed her eyes for a moment and said a silent prayer that whatever higher power this woman might have believed it would be welcoming her right now with open arms. It was the very least she deserved after all of these years.
She knew it would look bad if she were to just walk back out where the kids were without it looking completely terrible. Danielle tried to smooth out the wrinkles in the sheets and the woman's clothes gently before trying to clean up the glass that was scattered on the floor from the broken picture frame. The EMTs undoubtedly wouldn't have the same respect and make it all a mess again, but she was also sure that the older woman wouldn't want to have a crowd coming to see her when she was a crumpled up mess. Maybe that was just Danielle's mind getting the best of her as she tried to find some sort of broom and small dustpan to get the smaller pieces of glass and set the picture frame back up on the dresser for now.
She also heard the sirens along with the sounds of another woman out with the kids. Danielle's mind was too busy to identify the voice by name, but still sighed with relief. This was going to be quite an afternoon.
