Makayla rushed around work as fast as she could after receiving the text message from Carter. She didn’t have time to say anything to Travis but she had a feeling the boy sent something to her husband as well. Expecting him at the house as well would be a great relief, but she really didn’t mind helping with the EMTs or police. This would be the first time ever she has ever dealt with a situation like this.
But that really wasn’t on her mind as she drove to Carter’s home. She was worried that he was there alone; no one was there to comfort him. Makayla almost started to tear up and lose concentration on the steering wheel before getting a hold of herself and telling herself to calm down. Obeying the traffic laws were hard with her hands shaking on the steering wheel. She made it in time though. Well, in time to hear the sirens coming down the street.
She turned the car off, rushed out and basically ran toward Carter’s front door. She only knocked once before coming in without invitation. “Carter? Sweetie? Where are you?” She shouted from the front door. Though she was impolite to rush into the house, she was being respectful to stand in the foyer and wait for a reply she hoped she would receive.
