Her eyes followed his hand as he pointed and then back up to meet his gaze. Grace had no idea what to say, or what to do. She was too afraid to go back to his grandma's room to check on her herself. He may have been right for all she knew but she couldn't. She took a deep breath to force back her tears once more and then looked back over her shoulder as she heard her mom get out of their parked car. She looked at her with a deeply saddened and terrified look. She was completely lost at the moment and just felt so bad that there was nothing she could do.
She turned back to Carter and gave a small nod, "Ok." Even that short, two syllable word felt like a lie. She ran her hand along his shoulder down to his hand then interlocked their fingers together. "Do you want to sit down with me?" Grace moved into the house, brushing past him as she headed towards their living room.
