It's a really awkward situation when someone is confessing something that's supposed to be a really big secret... and you already know what they're telling you. Natalie hoped her face managed to convey something along the lines of shock as she confessed she had set a hurricane upon the town (which had totally spurred her to go over to Evan's and have their first cuddle session). Of course, she didn't know all of the details, including the whole it being about a boy bit, but somehow the why didn't seem nearly as exciting when compared to the 'hey, I made a hurricane' part.
"Like I said, Emily," Natalie said with a soft smile. "You're not the only with a skill that puts a strain on relationships." She wasn't exactly ready to say that she could read her mind. Although Evan seemed fine with it, she somehow doubted everyone would be cool with knowing Natalie could know what they were thinking at any time. It puts a strain on a relationship when you think you have to guard your thoughts all the time. "The circumstances may be different, but I make it work because I know it's worth it."
Time for more ice cream. She took another bite before she spoke again. "Look, I get that you're afraid, but it seems to me like what you really need to work on is controlling your ability and its reaction to your emotions." Natalie was still a little shaky on that ground, but she was getting better. "If you're that genuinely worried about hurting people, then hold off on dating until you've got a better control on your storms, hm? But you still need to talk to... Sam, was it? And tell him so. I mean, I would probably leave out the hurricane bit, but it's pretty easy to say you're not ready for a relationship yet, but that you would like to leave the option open for one in the future." She shrugged. "Of course, that way you don't get to kiss him again for a long time." She let out a soft giggle. "Always a downside."
