She heard the footsteps before she saw who they belonged to. Despite the fact that she was sitting on the sidewalk of a busy street, it still surprised her. Her phone turned to gold in her hands and she immediately dropped it once again to the pavement as if it were extremely hot and burned her hands. And then she saw him. Seth. He was, quite possibly, the last person she wanted to see right now-- for several reasons, but one very obvious one.
She shook her head and withdrew from his touch. She didn't want to turn anyone else to gold. Not today. Not another Enders. She couldn't bear the thought. "I'm f-fine, Seth." The tears on her cheeks, golden and solid. Sniffling, she brushed them away with a quick swat, and buried her face in her hands. "I'm s-s-sorry," she mumbled after a moment.
