She wasn't mad. There was no way in the world for her to be mad at them. It would have been thoroughly unnatural if she was. Aren was glad that things with the two of them had come full circle. She didn't have to keep Rory's feelings a secret anymore and she no longer had to guess at whether or not Eisen felt the same. They both loved each other, and it was a wonderful thing. The beginning of their relationship was surrounded in negativity, but if you pushed all surrounding feelings aside, it really was just right. It had just been a shame that hearts had to be broken in the chain of events. "Well, there's nothing wrong with lots and lots of cake," she said, still trying to keep the workings of her mind off of her face. "At least you can enjoy it? That, and you don't have to wear the ridiculously tall powdered wigs that took five hours to style correctly."
It didn't take much to know that the smiles on their faces weren't exactly genuine. Anyone put in the same situation would be the exact same way. It was hard to smile and be happy in the midst of hatred and hostility. Aren wished more than anything that it would just stop. Seeing the people closest to her upset or hurting...it was just terrible.
"Peppermint's fine," she said. "If you say so. It just seemed logical that the two of you might just want to spend the day alone together." She looked down at her lap for a second, once again tucking her hair back behind her ear and trying to keep her thoughts in check. "You know I could never hate you. As for people actively trying to kill you...there's always room in the park for statues." She'd meant it as a joke, but deep down, she was serious.
