WHO: Sarah McDermott WHAT: She's trying to ignore her aggression, but it leads to the discovery of her powers WHERE: Streets of the island and then whatever beach is fathest from the McDermott house WHEN: Sunday night RATING: PG-13 for cursing STATUS: Complete / Solo
It really did suck when you wanted to kick the shit out of something or someone, but you couldn't. Sarah's temper was volatile. Anyone who knew her well could tell you that. And sitting around her house all day while everything had gone up in smoke...it had been more than difficult. She'd tried to distract herself, but it was hard. TV didn't help. And it wasn't like she actually did her homework. Talking to her mother just got on her nerves, and she didn't want to bug Ady...or hear a speech about how she shouldn't go breaking faces, or whatever. So, Sarah had spent most of the time in her room, just sitting around. She couldn't count the number of times that she'd clenched and unclenched her fists. It had been enough to leave reddened indents in her palms from her fingernails, that much she knew for sure. There had to be something that she could do to vent. But, if she went smashing anything up at home, her dad would kill her. And her mom would get upset and that'd just be a whole lot more ugly to deal with.
"Fucking bastard...who the fuck does he think he is?" she muttered to herself. Lexie hadn't deserved to get hurt like that. Sure, Sarah sometimes thought that her happy, sunshine self was a little too sweet, that didn't change the fact that Lexie was pretty much her sister too. And if anyone ever hurt Allie or Ady that way, there was no doubting that Sarah would have beaten their sorry asses from Frye Island to the Himalayas. The same went for Lexie. But the thing about Lexie was that she didn't condone violence. "Friggin daffodility..." If it weren't for the promise, there wouldn't be much keeping her from pounding Bradbury into a puddle of goo. Did she care that she was just a seventeen year old girl and he was a grown man? Hell no. If anything, she had an unfair advantage. But it wouldn't make things any less fun.
"God damnit," she said, running her hands through her hair. There had to be something to do. Anything. Otherwise she was going to go nuts.
Suddenly, she thought of something. Grabbing up a hoodie, she pulled it on and left her room. She didn't know what time it was, and she really didn't care. It didn't stop her from just walking right out the front door and breaking into a run. Where was she going? No clue. But it didn't much matter. Because the familiar feeling of running just made her feel better. Not by much, but it was something at least. Sarah listened to her breath going in and out, and concentrated on getting the tinge of red to fade from around her line of vision. She barely noticed the cold air as she listened to each footfall on the pavement. Her temper was still there, volatile as ever. But she tried to channel it into her running.
Faster and faster she went, passing houses and trees and the occasional car. Still, she didn't know where she was going. And she still didn't care. He's such a fucking idiot, the thoughts began in her head. Cheating on Lexie. And with a guy! Cheating was bad enough, but he's in love with Rory Spinelli? What the fuck is wrong with the world?! Eash sentence that rang through her mind just made her run faster. To the point that she really wasn't even sure how fast she was going.
And then it happened. Everything in her peripheral vision was a blur. She didn't stop running. At least, not until she was stumbling to a stop...at the beach. "What the fuck?" Sarah knew that she hadn't been far enough from her house to end up at the beach. And it hadn't been long enough to run all the way there either. She knew how long it took. Even when she ran her fastest, she was still sure that it took more time than she'd been running. At least, to get to this beach in particular.
"What the fuck..." she repeated. Her legs all of a sudden felt kind of weird, and she dropped to a sitting position in the sand. Unless rage really had made her insane, something really weird was going on.
