WHO: Sasha Santa Cruz (open to Mari if she'd like to jump in, but otherwise solo!)
WHAT: Experimentos! Of the jewelry-making variety
WHERE: Her room
WHEN: Wednesday afternoon
RATING: G. And M for Magnetic!
When Sasha got home from school that day, she fully intended to do what she normally did. Get her homework done and practice some with her powers before just hanging out and doing whatever she wanted. How she was going to practice her powers, though, was the question. Most times Sasha didn't really know how to push herself without making what she did exceedingly obvious to other people. Going outside to see how far she could lift a car this time? Probably wouldn't end well. Trying to bend the pole to the streetlight? Just a tiny bit noticeable. But there was no challenge to sitting around in her room and practicing with little things, like paper clips and ball bearings. All the way home she was thinking about what she could do. And a somewhat familiar thought popped up once she was at the front door. She'd been thinking about it since she bought her dress for the dance, and really, what reason was there not to do it?
It took longer than anticipated to finish up her homework, but that was because math was a pain and it often lead her to get distracted by what was going on outside her window. And even that was sad, because there really wasn't much going on outside other than people walking by on their way to somewhere, or snow being blown around by the wind. After several instances of forcing herself to concentrate, she tackled the math and finished up the rest of her homework, which gave her little trouble. Once everything was packed away back in her backpack, she started getting things together for this particular power experiment. Whatever the outcome, it would prove to be interesting.
Because the neckline of her dress was accented with with a bit of silver, she thought that silver jewelry would be the way to go. But who wanted to wear a plain old silver bracelet when you could make something interesting? So, she dug out the handful of silver bangles that she'd accumulated through shopping trips and birthday presents. Why? To see if she could make something cool to wear. After all, silver was metal wasn't it? It'd be fun to at least try.
To start, she picked up two that were relatively the same thickness. A little wider than most of the others, but they matched up well. Sasha let them suspend in the air as she thought about what to do with them. The thought of a "braided bracelet" came to mind, so she figured it was worth a try. She focused on the one bangle first, picturing in her mind how she wanted it to look. Slowly and carefully, she bent it. The one side bent back until it formed a big loop. Magnetism made the metal stick back together, making it look like one piece. Satisfied with the shape, she looked to the other bracelet. It was too long for what she planned to do, so she broke it in half, letting the other half fall back onto her desktop. Sasha concentrated, making the broken end wrap around the loop of the other bracelet until it was a nice connection with a smooth rounded edge. Once finished, Sasha smiled, letting the finished product fall into her open hands. It was really nice for a first try.
The experiment went so well that she tried out some other things on different bracelets. One she made into sort of a serpentine pattern, having the two ends pass each other and bend back. Another she bent in a wavy sort of pattern. A third she twisted into a corkscrew pattern in the middle. The last one came out sloppier than intended, but she still rather liked the ovals that made up the shape.
With all the finished bangles on her desk, she took note on how much or how little she'd had to struggle while making each one. And all in all, it wasn't that bad. Perhaps she had a promising future in making metal jewelry. At least for fun.
Still, she didn't feel quite done. Tapping her chin, she thought a little bit. "Hm...I wonder what I could do with earrings..."
