Maybe it was a little… pathetic of Nick to have texted Leti right after Lexie texted him all gleeful. But he couldn’t help it. And when she’d shown up at his door, looking like she was walking on air, Nick felt a little sick to his stomach. That type of glow, that kind of happy, was the kind of happy that only one thing could bring about. The thought made him miserable. But why did it make him miserable? It wasn’t like he… liked Lexie or anything.
The movie with Leti was a perfect distraction. She was a good friend, and definitely hot, and even though the movie had been a disaster and they’d made fun of it all the way home, they’d had a fun enough time that it didn’t matter. He unlocked the door to his apartment and let her in, stepping in behind her and kicking the door closed, setting the lock in place.
Leti was a good friend, and hell if she wasn’t one of the hottest women in town. If anyone could help him get his mind off of… whatever this was? It was her. He turned to look at her when she asked him if he still wanted to learn to roll his r’s. “I think I could be persuaded,” he mused, a lopsided smirk crossing his face. “Want a drink?” He didn’t plan to get her drunk or anything, mostly because both of them were sure that this was how this encounter would go, but things always went a little smoother when Nick had at least one glass of whiskey or something in his system. “I have whiskey, beer and I think I have a little wine in my cupboard, too.”
