Who: Anyone who wants to go What: Valentine's Dance Where: Country Club banquet hall When: Monday, Feb 14 (forward dated)
The color pink. That's the first thing that hits the eye upon entering the Dance. The entire banquet hall was covered in it. From the bows on the chairs, the balloons on the DJ booth and right down to the table cloths, everything was pink. There were whites and reds thrown in there, too, for good measure. But mostly: pink. It had been the color of choice of the town council, voted several times as what most depicts love. That and hearts, which were also scattered around.
The ceiling had shimmery drapes hanging here and there, meeting in the middle at a lighted fixture. Apart from this light, and several small tea lights near the walls, the place was lighted only by ambiance and disco balls. There were, of course, several tables crowding the hard wood dance floor and an entire buffet wall dedicated to desserts and punch (all pink or 'romantic shaped'). The DJ booth was positioned near the front of the floor, and an area for photographs, opposite.
As six o'clock rolled around, people began arriving. There was valet parking at the door, free of charge, in case the weather took a turn for the worse. Several chaperons milled around the edges, watching for heavy petting or illegal substances. And all the crowns for the court were displayed on a table, waiting to be worn. It was, as promised, going to be an evening to remember.
