I'll put the emphasis on the evidence Begging for the proof
Rory could hardly breathe. Things weren’t supposed to be like this, were they? As if there wasn’t already enough drama on this island today, now he had to deal with this. Of course, it was Rory’s own fault that it was happening in the first place. That was the rub of it. Rory passed a trembling hand through his hair and glanced nervously at the door. Ben would be here any minute and he’d have to tell him… something. How could he even explain it? It wasn’t like Rory really knew what to say. Or what was going on himself, really. All he knew was that he had somehow been responsible for Fiona and Sebastian hooking up. He wasn’t even exactly sure how, himself. What did he really know about this crazy power anyway? He knew he could sense things. And… he could definitely manipulate people somehow. But was it really emotions, like Penny and Gio had suggested? Rory wasn’t so sure.
From what he’d seen of Fiona and Sebastian, they weren’t really acting like they were in love with each other. Sure, they were all over each other in a lot less time than they probably would’ve been without Rory’s influence, but that didn’t make it emotional. Did it? Rory glanced over at the four Hershey kisses that were still sitting in a little pile on his desk and winced. Maybe making the aphrodisiacs wasn’t such a good idea. He still wanted to help Eisen, but… maybe the price was too steep. If he really was making people do these things, this very… physical things against their will, maybe… maybe it just wasn’t worth it. Rory liked to think of himself as a relatively good person, but all of the sudden, in the past few weeks, he’d found himself walking (so to speak) a very, very thin line. Granted, he’d been trying to solve a problem. The point had been to help Fiona get over him, a goal which may or may not have actually been accomplished. But there were consequences. Penny was upset. And now (because of Penny, Rory was sure) Ben was upset too.
Rory rubbed his temples. And he’d meddled in Gio’s life too, and now his own brother was mad at him. Maybe Gio was right. Maybe this whole “having powers’ thing really wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Every time Rory tried to help a situation, to fix it, to make it better, the ensuing ripple effect ended up causing more harm than good. Rory took a deep breath and turned his head toward the door as he heard Ben’s soft footsteps on the stairs. Damn it.
“Hey Ben,” Rory greeted the other boy, his tone soft and heavy with remorse. “Close the door, please.”
