'The winter holidays' was usually the response he gave when asked what his favorite time of year was. It was the answer people expected, but it wasn't entirely true. Yes, he loved the Yuletide, but nothing really beat Superbowl Sunday. The game, the company, the food... the excuse to dust off his BC Eagles jersey from when he'd played years before. The gold and maroon was a little faded, but "DUFF" was still proudly written on the back.
He had gotten help in dragging his own big screen from his home to the rec room, setting up the smaller tv in the Sunday School classroom to switch the puppy bowl on for the kids. The kitchen had been set up with some wine and cheeses for the grown ups who had no interest in football or puppies; Jack wasn't sure how anyone could be disinterested in either one. In fact, Jack wasn't sure if he wanted to be in a world where the puppy bowl was disliked by anyone. For God's sake, there was a kitten halftime show!
The Reverend had settled himself on one of the red couches of the rec room, a few EUUC members were already sitting around with him, eyes fixed on the screen as they waited for the game to begin.
