“See? So I couldn’t give it to her, because I the one I give it to to have the potential to play it well!” Eisen said simply, grinning and smoothing a hand through his hair. “I bet you’ll be good.” He almost slipped and told Gio about Rory’s foray into being a guitarist at his apartment, but Rory had seemed insanely adamant to keep that a secret, so he stifled the urge and gave his own strings a strum.
The next little bit, a couple of hours easily, were made up of Eisen explaining why their guitars sounded different. Maple-wood had a little bit of a hollower sound than mahogany, and he went off on a somewhat unnecessary tangent about the hierarchy of the woof used in guitars. Maybe it was a little rambly, but he sincerely hoped that Gio didn’t mind. This was something he was passionate about, so he couldn’t help but talk too much. He explained the different parts of the guitar, the frets, the pick board, the saddle, the bridge, the sound hole… everything that he really needed to know. And Gio was doing so well that Eisen actually got as far as teaching him the D, G and A chords… the three chords necessary for most songs.
“You’re a fast learner, dude!” Eisen smiled as he strummed casually, plucking the beginning strings to the Rainbow Connection, like Rory had that one snow day at his apartment. “Sooner than later you’ll be able to just… do it subconsciously,” he offered a little encouragement.
