Jamie's shoulders lifted despondently. "That's just the way it is. Can't do the same stuff as everybody else, kinda feel like my brain doesn't work properly." He twisted his fingers around each other and looked at the floor, watching Chris' legs for a moment before he just huffed out another breath and sank lower in his chair.
"Albert Einstein was one of the greatest minds of the last hundred years," Jamie pointed out, finally looking up at Chris. His eyes shifted from blue to green just as he was looking at the councilor. "I'm certainly not that." His lips twitched again, a slight self-deprecating smile. His hair deflated, a couple of strands falling in his eyes again. He blew at the strands, but they just fell into his face again.
He shifted. "Math and English and History," he admitted. He hadn't spoken to anyone about this, not even his mom. He'd hinted at it, but he never wanted to appear to be useless or not as good as his sister. He had very real feelings of inadequacy. Even in comparison with his best friend, smart thing that he was. He looked up at Chris again, making eye contact - brown, this time - for the first time in the whole session. "If I was like Albert Einstein, I wouldn't have to worry about being useless at school since I'd make a name for myself discovering the theory of relativity." Of course, as soon as he finished talking, he dropped his eyes away again.
