Who: Elaine and Alfie What: Elaine summons Alfie to her office to remind him that school is not a place for violence. Where: HS Principal's Office When: Friday Morning
Elaine had never cared for violence. It often fueled a conflict instead of bringing it to an end. More importantly, it was against the school's policy, something she took much more seriously than philosophical or psychological musings on the subject.
On Monday, she had been in the right place at the right time. A stern glance had been all it took to break up what might have become a fist fight in the middle of the school hallway. It had brought a sense of relief; contrary to popular belief, Elaine did not enjoy punishing students for misbehaving. In fact, she detested the duty -- after all, it brought an often unplanned element of chaos into her life.
Still, it disturbed her that the fight may have occurred had she not happened by at precisely that moment. It was another random element she cared nothing for, and so, after giving Alfie Tibbits some time to think she had not noticed the near outbreak of violence, she summoned him to her office.
