Never had she been so happy to hear that she could go home for the day. As per usual, her boss was having a freakout because of her stifling lack of organizational skills. And as per usual, Christine was called in to save the day. It got exasperating sometimes, and getting called in on a Sunday when she normally didn't have to work definitely qualified as exasperating. Working out the things that were being declared to be the end of the world really wasn't hard. Anyone with a bit of patience and logical thinking would have been able to figure it out. Sadly, her boss possessed neither of those things when she got all stirred up and stressed out. Sometimes Christine just wanted to whack the woman over the head, but that would mean that she didn't get paid. And that was a problem.
Though, eventually, she was told that she could go home for the day. In her mind, the Hallelujah Chorus was playing, but only a grateful smile showed on her face. She thanked her boss without letting any sarcasm drip into her tone. Once her things were gathered and her coat was on, she was back out in the cold, though this time her destination was her house. She hadn't driven because her car wouldn't warm up properly, so Christine was stuck walking home. With a sigh, she took the path through the park that she knew would get her home and into the warmth of her house faster.
Her boots were crunching through the residual snow on the sidewalk. There didn't really seem to be anyone else around, but it didn't make sense for people to be out when it was so cold anyway. Aside from, perhaps, groups of kids playing out in the snow. Christine was concentrated mostly on getting home, but then she saw someone else in her line of sight. It was a woman. A young woman from the looks of it. And she didn't have a coat on. That in and of itself was odd. Christine's walk slowed as she approached. Something seemed a little off...
