WHO: Elaine and Francis WHAT: Elaine is in "expel or suspend" mode concerning the locker incident and Francis is sort of regretting e-mailing her about Dietre in his anger. WHEN: Thursday, February 3; after school WHERE: Principal Bennett's office RATING: PG-13 for Francis' cussin' thoughts
Shit had been the first thing Francis said upon seeing the wrecked lockers, and the word had been echoing in his head ever since. In his anger, he'd dropped Dietre's name to Elaine against, perhaps, his better judgment (but why should he protect the kid? why?) and the result was talk of expelling or suspending him. Francis knew well that Dietre wouldn't give a flying fuck about being expelled or suspended most likely, but did Francis want him hanging around his house all day unsupervised?
Hell no.
He knocked when he reached Elaine's office, feeling his stomach twist into knots. Not much made him nervous anymore, not in the way he'd used to be almost perpetually as a kid, but facing down the scientists and arguing with their logic was one of those things he didn't think he'd ever be able to get over. He worked for them, after all, and they knew better than him. In this particular situation, however, Francis didn't think he could follow along with their decision without fighting for his own rights.
