The frustration and contemptuousness in Dietre’s tone didn’t escape Julius’ attention. “Well, you cover it well,” he started off, wondering if he had the same feelings brimming beneath the prim and proper calm surface as Julius himself did. He kept appearances quite well. But there was definitely plenty more to him than that. “For what it’s worth, Dietre, I don’t think anyone in the world is calm. They may put off an air of calm, but they aren’t. If anyone is truly calm, they’re hiding something.”
Shrugging a shoulder when he explained that there were reasons that people disliked him, he gave a bit of a smile. “If you dig deep enough, everyone has a reason to be disliked, Dietre. There are skeletons in everyone’s closet. You’re a human being. Whatever mistake you may have made in the past doesn’t make that any less,” he offered.
“Don’t apologize. It was an interesting question. Anything that can put me on the spot is a good question.”
