Emily smiled gently when Sam bent down and scratched Irulan behind the ears. She didn't know why but when guys were good with Irulan they got ten times cuter in her eyes and Sam was already cute to begin with. She had no romantic intentions with him to begin with, but she'd be lying if she said he wasn't cute and she didn't like to lie.
"Okay," Emily said with a twinge of worry in her tone, "But you have to promise me that if later it's icy you'll crash here for the night. And before you ask we have plenty of room and after Evan moved out we turned his old room into a guest room." The design of the guest room was a little much for Emily. It was pretty, but it looked as if it belonged on the cover of an Ethan Allen catalog. Also it was a guest room, no need to over do it.
Emily looked away with a little blush and smile, "Yeah I guess." Irulan was completely her responsibility. Walking her, feeding her, buying her everything, taking her for her checkups, so Sam saying she was happy meant she was doing a good job and that was one of the best compliments she could ask for. She took his coat and hung it up in the closet next to the entryway then turned back to him.
"Come on, lets order, I'm famished and that Chinese is sounding so good," Emily motioned with a nod of her head as she led the way into the kitchen Irulan still on their heels. Once she got to the phone Emily hopped up on the counter and handed Sam the menu, "I already know what I want, but let me know what looks good to you and we can compromise on a few things." She gave him another smile and took the cordless phone off the wall to let it rest in her lap.
