Gio had been expecting the definition, because he knew how Rory was about words, but nonetheless was thankful Rory didn't go that route with him. Then they'd just get in an argument about the word 'lame' and Gio would leave slapping himself in the forehead for saying it in the first place. It was the same thing when he was angry at Ed and called him stupid without thinking. He tried to be – and was, really! – a tolerant and open-minded person, but he fell into those kinds of traps quite easily when he wasn't being vigilant.
Flying would be among the most conspicuous of powers, but if anyone deserved to be able to do that it was Rory. Gio also thought the concept of flying somewhat terrifying, but also freeing. Once the initial shock wore off, it might be some of the most fun a person could have. That is, if anyone could find a place to fly around where they wouldn't easily be spotted. Then again, Gio's theory was that most of the kids on the island had powers (speaking from a purely statistical standpoint), so maybe it wouldn't be that bad to get caught.
"Yeah," Gio said, after Rory pat his shoulder. He offered a smile, but it was strained. At least Rory was just joking – he didn't think it was a power, either. Thinking that and listening to Rory move past that topic, made Gio unwind quickly.
"Amazing feats of wonder…. When you put it that way, I'm not sure—" he began, meaning to tease Rory a little, but his phone beeped at him from his pocket before he could finish the sentence. "Geez, it scared me." Gio pulled the phone out and glanced at the screen, at first only meaning to look at who was texting him (it might have been Amelia, if she was still feeling bad from before), but when he saw Glory's name on his screen he moved his fingers to check the message. "It's Glory, give me a second to reply."
