Although Rory was nice enough to keep his laughs at bay, Gio couldn't help but chuckle a little at his own unfortunate behavior. But if there was anyone he was okay making a food out of himself in front of it was Rory, who he felt wouldn't judge him. Part of Gio felt bad that he had to keep his friends' names out of the conversation with his brother, because he didn't want it to seem like he was doing so from lack of trust. That was not the case.
"I'm kind of glad, that would be a lame power," Gio said. Potentially helpful, maybe, but if he had to have a power he secretly thought having something flashy would be better. So what if it didn't help him in any way if it was cool? Of course, that train of thought was in the fantasy realm, because if he really did get saddled with a dangerous power Gio would likely prefer something safe and boring.
At mention of being able to grow gills, Gio laughed again. "I wish, but I just bought a new snorkel last summer." One of those cool ones with a splash deflector, and he hadn't had many days to use it before the weather had gotten too cold to swim. That was the folly in losing his current snorkel at the end of the season. "It'd be a shame if I didn't need it anymore."
Gio took a moment to think of what Rory's power could be. "You … you're good at reading people. Maybe you can read minds." Although, now that he went ahead and said it, that seemed like a very dangerous power to be around so often.
