Okay. Not-smiling Gio definitely meant something was wrong. Something that Rory needed to do his very best to fix immediately. He scooted a little closer in his chair and listened carefully as Gio spoke, his brows knitting together as Gio mentioned Ed.
"Well there goes the theory of our family being immune," Rory muttered. Looking directly at his brother, he said, "honestly Gio? I have no idea. I wish I did. But this... this whatever it is seems to be popping up everywhere all the sudden and I really don't like it. I'm starting to suspect that the whole island might be... infected, for lack of a better term. Although I can't prove it, of course, since it's not like I can do anything myself."
Rory had wondered, after this whole business came to light, if maybe his illness was keeping him from developing some strange and mystical ability. The thought turned his stomach a little. In some ways, he didn't really want one of these... gifts (if they could be called that; it certainly did seem to work that way for Eisen), but if his BMD was the reason he didn't get one, then that would be one more thing that had been taken from him. Shaking his head a little, Rory continued. "I wish I had news. Mom's been really... elusive lately. Every time I try to talk to her seriously about this she gets another call or another patient."
