Her words were like a double edged sword, which never crossed her mind at all within that moment. After dinner though, she would think about it and then realize how terrible that might have come out, even though she meant nothing by it and only thought it might work because the TV program said it would with some individuals. Her whole family was an experiment under Travis’ eyes, but Makayla never said a word that she actually developed some kind of power. The conversation came up several times in her head but was never said out loud. How would you start a conversation like that? “Honey, I developed some kind of power while I was pregnant with Gabriel, I think.” Yeah, what a conversation that would be. She told him in the past that she developed the flu-like symptoms that he told her that she might experience, but after that… nothing was ever said. She could understand why he wouldn’t pester her about it because every so often they would buttheads about the project. And with her knowing so little, Makayla never pried for more answers about it.
But tonight wasn’t about experiments this or experiments that. This was her birthday dinner and she was going to keep the positive atmosphere in the air all night long.
Makayla couldn’t help but chuckle at Travis’ words. What he was thinking wasn’t silly at all, because it was on her mind as well. But she was going to tease him a little and see how long it took for him to just do as he pleases. It always was fun to see that animal in him. “I was thinking,” she started, picking up her second glass of champagne and moving toward the living room where the stereo was. “We haven’t danced in quite some time.” And with that, the music started to play with a simple press of a button. Her back was toward him so he had a great view of her behind, giving her the best chance to use it by swaying her hips to the beat that came through the speakers.
