Generally speaking, ‘guys night’ wasn’t Julius’ scene. Or at least the standardized ‘bravado plus testosterone plus beer drinking’ image that was ‘guys night’ put off. But, stir craziness wasn’t any better, so he’d sucked it up and agreed to go to Tetsuo’s ‘guys night.’ Besides, the people there were tolerable and that was what mattered.
He’d known going in that his Doc Martens would need to come off as soon as he entered the door, so he’d never tied them, and they were easily slid off and set on the mat beside the door. Smoothing a hand through his hair, he looked around Tetsuo’s place. He didn’t make a habit of going to the other scientists’ houses if he could avoid it. It humanized them. Changed them from the monsters that Julius currently saw them as. But sometimes, for appearances’ sake, it was necessary, and this was one such case. He heard Travis talking about the beer he brought and responded with a hearty laugh.
“Variety indeed,” Julius’ thick accent responded with a smirk. “I brought some Canadian import. The real stuff. Makes American beer seem like watered down hops,” he joked. It was no secret that Canadian beer was far better than American beer. “So what’s on the agenda tonight, gentlemen?”
