"I don't necessarily agree with Mom on that," replied Jacob, a little hesitant. He didn't want to break up the idea of having a unified parental front with Emma, because that was one way to breed mutiny amongst the Tidbits, but... well, they were two people. And, honestly, Jacob didn't think Lexie was taking anything too personally. Everything that had been said about her in recent weeks had been too personal. There was no other way to react, in his mind. "It's hard not to take these things personally or to heart, when they are aimed right there."
He sighed. "It doesn't make sense, why this is happening, it hurts, but it isn't your fault. I can assure you of that."
