It was difficult for a parent to watch (and endure with a held tongue) what was being said, as Jacob had been doing - to watch his daughter's life get plastered on every public forum available, and then to have to proceed to go about one's life as if little had changed. But, he and Emma had talked, decided it was best to simply monitor the situation before deciding on some, perhaps extreme, course of action.
It was safe to say, however, that Jacob's patience was wearing thin. He had a hard enough time as it was keeping quiet and still, let alone when the discussion revolved around a severe dislike of his daughter. - It was taking it's toll on Lexie to - in a way that became more and more apparent as the days came and went. "I know you're not," replied Jacob with a half-smile. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Trying to explain why others gossiped was not something he was well-versed in. "Hon, I know it doesn't make sense. I know. - Songbird, right. - But, there are people who are jealous and petty. It's hard to unravel the reasons they do something, especially when you're a reasonable and kind person."
