Felix had, thankfully, not been named after the cartoon cat. Rather, his mother Elena had wanted a ‘lucky name’ for her first child. After years of failed attempts at having a child of her own with Mikhail, it had felt like a miracle when the project got it right. He wasn’t sure what Maya meant, but he was pretty sure it meant ‘water’ or something. But Felix wasn’t exactly in any state of explain what his name really meant, never mind understand that Wolf might be flirting with him right then- he sure has hell hadn’t noticed in the journal conversation, but Felix was a bit of an idiot when it came to flirting. He needed a very bright neon sign to show him what was going on, or he needed to start it off.
He watched Wolf, giggling again at the mention of the seedy underbelly that was going on right then. “This isn’t so bad- it’s a lot like high school parties,” he said with a shrug, even thought he’d admit that there was a lot less bumping and grinding than at high school bashes. But there was also a very distinct lack of Wolf at the other parties, and Felix couldn’t deny that the other boy pretty much filled Felix’s ‘tall, dark, and handsome’ ideal.
Generally, being homophobic was a shield. And he usually wasn’t outwardly rude to people who were gay- Wolf’s mothers, for instance, were very sweet and he had no issue with them. He just didn’t like talking about it. It was easier to make it a non issue or simply avoid the topic. It was harder with Mao, who just confused Felix more than anything else.
