That was just Eisen’s way. He listened to people he cared about; learned what they liked and didn’t like and used it later. It had benefitted him tons of times in his friendship with Rory, and now, with Lexie, it was doing so all over again. Especially when he kissed her. He smirked happily. “I pay attention,” he said matter-of-factly.
He nodded in wholehearted agreement with her statement about sadness and heartbreak. “Tell me about it. I’m glad everything’s working out for us.” He was almost completely happy. Now, if only there was something more he could do for Rory. This was not the time to think about that, though. Smiling when Lexie squeezed his hand, he nodded yet again. “Much, much better.”
Her command for him to take a seat had him laughing as he acquiesced to the demand. “Ma’am, yes ma’am! Do you want me to drop and give you twenty? Because I don’t think I can do that,” he shook his head. Matters of physical prowess had never been his strong suit. There were very few times in his life when he’d ever had to lift something even close to his own body weight, and that was a good thing, because he wasn’t very good at it.
She asked what he was working on and he ducked his head shyly. “Oh. That song I told you about,” he explained, reaching his arm out and wrapping it around her shoulders.
