Who: Penny and Rory What: A doctor's appointment... and an interesting conversation When: Saturday, January 22nd, morning Where: The clinic Rating: PGish probably? Status: Incomplete
There were few places Rory disliked more than doctors offices. He was more or less used to them by now, considering that he'd spent the better part of his childhood in them, but he would still much rather be elsewhere. Unfortunately for Rory, the relapse of his illness had hit harder than the original bug, so he'd had no choice but to submit to his mother's request to visit the doctor. The appointment was delayed (as he'd expected) and although he had a book with him, he was too exhausted to read it. Instead, he occupied himself by watching the colorful fish that were flitting back and forth in the obligatory doctor's-office-fish-tank and tried to remember the scientific names of the fish. His brother had told him, once, but Rory had forgotten.
His reverie was broken by the sound of the clinic door opening and he looked up from the fish tank to give a little smile to Penny. Poor girl. They'd run into each other in doctors' offices all too often, which was a testament to how often both of them got sick.
"We have to stop meeting like this," he rasped, trying to make light of the situation, as usual. "How're you doing, Penny? Immune system still fighting the good fight?"
