Eisen frowned and sighed a little. Why couldn’t things be simple? He still firmly believed that no one deserved simple more than Rory did, so why couldn’t he be the one who was diving headfirst into something that had the possibility to be great? Why didn’t he see Fiona as someone he could be with? “I can talk to Fiona, if you want,” he offered. “If nothing else, I can make sure that you don’t lose her as a friend. Because I really don’t want to see that happen.”
Of course, the fact that Rory was so determined to just play backup while Eisen went and had his relationship with Lexie bothered Eisen a lot. But he was beginning to see that, for one reason or another, Rory wasn’t going to come around. Not this time, anyway. “Someday, someone will come along and change your mind,” he insisted. “Whoever she is will have to go through a series of rigorous Eisen-related tests, of course, to be sure that she’s good enough, but yes. I’m determined to, someday, see you have what you deserve.”
