Not that it ever wasn’t, but moments like this…the times when he and Rory had laugh-fests over silly little comments one or the other made, made their friendship really worthwhile. Knowing one-another well enough to know just what to say to set the other to laughing was an unbelievable benefit in Eisen’s eyes, and that, as far as he was concerned, was why Rory came first.
The momentary triumph was short-lived, however. Rory started coughing and any gloating was forgotten, until Rory sat back up and smiled. He was okay, good. “Sorry,” he said softly, but his own smile was creeping its way back now that he knew Rory was all right. “And there’s no fire-rain. We’re safe, for now.”
After his demands were met with a scoff from his best friend, Eisen chuckled. “You asked what I wanted! Never said anything about attainability, but all right, if you’re going to be difficult,” he put his index finger to his chin and thought about it for a second. “How about…I make my whole bribe to get you over here moot, and suggest that we order Chinese for supper tonight? I’ll let you bring the rest of the alfredo home, so that your visit here wasn’t entirely pointless, because heaven knows you wouldn’t come here to see me or anything, but I have a serious craving for some lo mein, and I know you could use some mu shu pork. So, yeah.”
